How Municipal Court Warrants Work
Tyler County municipal courts handle Class C misdemeanors, traffic, and city-ordinance cases within their jurisdiction. They keep their own citation and failure-to-appear records. A sheriff contact page or another city's payment portal may not show the municipal court's current warrant status.
Woodville and Ivanhoe are the two municipal courts found in the state directory reviewed here. A municipal warrant or capias pro fine remains tied to the city case; the court clerk can say whether payment, a new setting, or a judge's order is required.
Tyler County's Two Verified City Courts
The 2025 Texas municipal-court directory lists Woodville and Ivanhoe. Both handle local Class C and traffic matters. Colmesneil and Chester did not appear in that directory, and no official local warrant portal was found for either place. This does not establish that no municipal authority exists; it means a resident should identify the issuer from the citation.
The state directory is a court listing, not a warrant-search service.
The Woodville Municipal Court page publishes its city contact and forms.
Woodville's published court page supplies city-specific contact and payment guidance, while Ivanhoe maintains its own separate file.
Municipal Courts Across Tyler County
Use the court name on the citation. This table separates verified municipal offices from places where the reviewed sources did not confirm a municipal-court contact. It does not claim that Colmesneil or Chester has no court or police function.
| Place | Court status located | Route for a citation |
|---|---|---|
| Woodville | Woodville Municipal Court | City traffic, ordinance, Class C, and FTA matters |
| Ivanhoe | Ivanhoe Municipal Court | City traffic, ordinance, Class C, and FTA matters |
| Colmesneil | No official entry/page located | Read the issuing court on the citation; ask City Hall if unclear |
| Chester | No official entry/page located | Read the issuing court on the citation |
Woodville Warrant Arrival Policy
Woodville Municipal Court's FAQ says a person who comes to address a warrant issued by that court will not be arrested on that warrant at the court. The FAQ also warns the person could be arrested at another time or location. That promise belongs to Woodville's court and must not be applied to a JP, sheriff, district, County Court, or Ivanhoe warrant.
Call the clerk before going in and ask whether the matter is Woodville's, whether another agency has process, and what papers or payment method are needed.
The Woodville court FAQ gives the full safe-arrival statement.
The Woodville FAQ sets a limited arrival rule; it is not a countywide surrender policy.
Tyler County Municipal Warrant Checks
There is no combined city-warrant portal. Woodville's online payment page uses its citation number, date of birth, and driver's-license number, but the court says to call about a warrant. Ivanhoe's linked payment tool serves Ivanhoe only, and special payment types require court contact. For other places, the citation issuer is the starting point.
- Read the citation for city, court, case number, and appearance date.
- Call Woodville Municipal Court at (409) 283-3255 or Ivanhoe Municipal Court at (409) 444-7048 for its own case only.
- Ask whether the record is an FTA, capias pro fine, or another warrant, and what action the judge requires.
- If no city portal or local court page is available, call the issuer shown on the citation or ask the county JP directory to route a precinct case.
- Request existing sheriff-held documents in writing through the county's Texas Public Information Act instructions.
Ivanhoe Warrant Payments and Clearance
Ivanhoe's court is at City Hall and serves by appointment on weekdays. The city's linked payment page is limited to Ivanhoe citations. It says a warrant must be paid in full and should clear in two to three business days; keep the receipt during that interval.
Driving-safety, deferred-disposition, compliance-dismissal, and partial-warrant payments require a call to the court. Do not use the Ivanhoe payment link for Woodville or Tyler County JP cases.
The Ivanhoe Municipal Court page identifies the city court that controls those citation records.
The city court and its linked payment service are limited to Ivanhoe cases.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
No shared Tyler County city-warrant result format was found. A municipal file may include a citation or cause number, ordinance or traffic offense, court, amount due, and action such as FTA or recall. Woodville and Ivanhoe keep separate records, so use the city and case number when calling.
| Citation / cause | City format varies |
|---|---|
| Offense | Traffic, ordinance, or other Class C matter within the court's jurisdiction. |
| Issuing court | Woodville, Ivanhoe, or the court printed on the citation. |
| Amount due | Ask the clerk for the current amount and accepted method. |
| Status | Ask whether the warrant is active, recalled, paid, or awaiting an appearance. |
Tyler County City Cases Versus JP Warrants
A city citation belongs to a municipal court when the city court issued it. A county or precinct traffic ticket belongs to the relevant JP. The sheriff's page is not a substitute for either court, and one city's payment account cannot clear a different court's case.
If a citation from Colmesneil or Chester does not name a municipal court, do not guess from the town name. Call the printed issuer or use the county's official court directory and JP page to identify the file.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Ask the issuing court whether it requires full payment, a judge appearance, a new setting, a hardship hearing, or an attorney's motion. Woodville allows payment plans by request and publishes an indigency process; the judge must approve a plan. Ivanhoe's linked warrant-payment page requires payment in full. Neither route should be assumed to recall a warrant until the court confirms it.
- Call the court printed on the citation and ask for the current warrant and case status.
- Confirm whether payment, an appearance, a new date, or a hardship request is required.
- Follow the court's approved payment or appearance method, and keep the receipt or order.
- Confirm the warrant recall and any DPS update with the court after its stated processing time.
Warning: Paying a ticket does not by itself prove an existing warrant was recalled; get confirmation from the court that issued it.
Woodville Hardship and City Warrant Plans
Woodville publishes a financial-affidavit route for a person who cannot afford the fine. The court may request income, benefits, bills, dependents, and aid information, then consider a smaller plan, extension, or community service. A new payment plan has a $15 administrative fee and requires court approval.
These options address the citation or judgment. Ask whether a separate warrant recall or court appearance is still needed. The city publishes no equivalent Ivanhoe hardship or warrant-recall form in the sources reviewed.
The city’s financial-affidavit page describes the materials used for hardship review.
The form supports a hardship request; only the court can approve a resolution or confirm a warrant status.
